International Undergraduate Orientation

Welcome, Class of 2019 International and Visiting International Students!

International House is very excited to welcome you to Duke University and to the International Orientation

on Sunday, August 16, 2015 and Monday, August 17, 2015. We hope Duke and International House will be

a place for you to connect, learn, and grow.

International Orientation is an opportunity for you to:

For many international students, the International Orientation serves a key role in acclimating them to the U.S.

and Duke culture as well as a way of developing deep friendships with other students.

We hope you will take part in the International Orientation this year and that your parents and family members

accompanying you to Duke in August will join the International Parent/Family Orientation.

Students who register for International Orientation will be permitted to move into their residence halls early on

either Friday, August 14 or Saturday, August 15.

The registration deadline for International Orientation is Friday, July 3, 2015.

Summer Transition Series

We are excited you have chosen Duke as your home for the next 4 years. The staff at the International

House welcome you and are eager to meet you! Our goal is to assist you during this transition in your

life and be your home away from home. We hope your experience at Duke is a memorable time for you

to connect with others, learn, and grow.

a. Summer Transition SeriesThe Duke Summer Transition Series is designed to assist in the pre-

matriculation of new undergraduate students, parents, and families to Duke University. The Summer

Transition Series is an opportunity for undergraduate international students to interact virtually with

members of the Duke community. You'll have the opportunity to meet representatives from International

House, Visa Services, and Student Health. The live Question & Answer Session will be:

Be welcomed and supported by the team and International House IHOP staff

Befriend other first-year international students and visiting international students

Build a sense of community among all the new international students

How to get to Duke East Campus by car:

Early Move-in:

Students who have registered for the International Orientation are permitted to move-in early. Once you arrive

to campus, please check-in at the following location. You will pick up your keys to your residence hall and get

your International Orientation welcome packet.

life at Duke. They serve a vital role in the and will be communicating

with you over the summer, prior to your arrival to Duke. This year, we have a team of 19 IHOPs who are eager

to welcome you, future Dukies!

Due to road construction, there is a section of Main Street that is closed and you will not have access to

Campus Drive to enter the East Campus Main Quad. If you have a GPS, please use 600 North Buchanan

Blvd. 27701 for directions to East Campus. There is a parking lot there you can use that is close to

Housing, Dining, Residence Life (HDRL) East Campus Office to check-in.

Students living on East Campus must go to Housing, Dining Residence Life East Campus Office

(Southgate Residence Hall - 1400 West Main Street)

Visiting International Students (exchange) must go to Room 101R on West
